About Crystaldawn.net

Crystaldawn.net is a very old domain name that I once used for a Mud that I coded a very long time ago. Back in 1995-98 I coded a mud and gave it a name of Crystal Dawn. Then I went and got the domains of crystaldawn.net .com and .org. After about 2 years of development on Sourceforge.net with myself and 3 other developers, I began developing for EmberMUD which is a Mud Codebase.

A mud codebase is an application that others use to build their own muds with. So when someone wanted to create their own mud, they would need a mud codebase to start from. It can still be found on sourceforge today and it still gets downloads every day. Check out the Changelog for it someday, you’ll see a familiar name in there . During the year of 2000, my crystaldawn domains expired on me and before I was able to renew them, someone had snatched up the .com and .org names. But I was able to save the .net name, and I’ve had it ever since.

Maybe someday I’ll once again regain control of those other domains. The .com one was once a porn site, but now its something else, and .org seems to be parked. This domain has been with me for a long time, and I plan to never lose it again. While the name may not have much meaning to what I am doing these days, I still like to use it. So that is why you are reading this under the crystaldawn.net domain instead of something like phpGoogleStoreLocator.com (Which I do own by the way). All of the relevant application names that I create will have their domain names pointed at this website.

So, to make a long story short, crystaldawn.net is my own little code repository for stuff that I decide to code and release under the GPL.
